Bug 71064

Summary: /usr/ports/math/atlas-devel
Product: Ports & Packages Reporter: Bill Blum <Bill.Blum>
Component: Individual Port(s)Assignee: Maho Nakata <maho>
Status: Closed FIXED
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: Normal
Version: Latest
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description Bill Blum 2004-08-28 02:10:22 UTC
After typing 'make install' for atlas-devel on a 2.8Ghz pentium 4E machine
(Prescott, with SSE3 instructions), the auto-detection code sets defaults
for a Pentium 4, *not* the Pentium 4E. This gives a performance hit
compared to a stock P4.

Fix:

If I knew, I'd fix it myself.
How-To-Repeat: 'make install' on a Pentium 4E system.

Currently we don't have a tool to distinguish
Pentium4s which have SSE3 capability...
