Description tomaz.borstnar 2004-09-07 18:40:28 UTC
Trying to install official (miniinst) ISO of 5.3beta3-amd64 which ALWAYS fails during copyingfiles on mirror volume on ServeRAID-6m.

Here are two attempts:

-------
panic: ffs_valloc: dup alloc
cpuid = 1
KDB: enter: panic

Another attempt. Same volume, same settings except for soft-updates being off...
Installation stopped by not being able to read from CD. After retrying to read the distribution again I got:
panic: ufsdirhash_findslot: 'atacontrol' not found

How-To-Repeat: Boot official mini inst ISO of 5.3beta3-amd64.

Things are getting worse. Now it does not even boot into sysinstall! It hangs after printing out lines for bge0.
Comment 2 tomaz.borstnar 2004-10-10 13:52:09 UTC
Beta7 boots properly, but install fails while installing files on raid1 volume. Message on alt-f1 is:

bin/csh
/stand/cpio: bin/csh linked to bin/tcsh
bin/tcsh
/stand/gunzip: <fd:0>: invalid stored block lengths
bin/date
/stand/cpio: premature end of file

I tried with cd-rw and cd-r medium. Basically this is old error from beta2.

Nothing new with 5.3 release. It stops installing (copying) files to
volumes with I/O error. Source upgrade from 5.2.x might work, but 5.2.x
does not know about Adaptec IDs for ServeRAID 6M :(
Comment 4 tomaz.borstnar 2005-08-23 19:29:39 UTC
This is now fixed with 5.4. It boots fine and when I select option to
use USB keyboard I can install it successfully and works fine after
final reboot. So consider this PR closed.
