Bug 85451

Summary: [hang] 6.0-BETA3 lockups on AMD64 (PREEMPTION only)
Product: Base System Reporter: Fernando P. Schapachnik <fernando>
Component: amd64Assignee: freebsd-amd64 (Nobody) <amd64>
Status: Closed FIXED
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: Normal
Version: 6.0-BETA3
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description Fernando P. Schapachnik 2005-08-29 20:30:11 UTC
6.0-BETA3 can't stay up for ten minutes in my system. Any heavy I/O
(such as CVSup) locks the system (sometimes, even letting it idle). With
and without ACPI.

Fix:

Maybe the SATA driver?

Just a wild guess: Do you use the pf and the user or group keyword in
the ruleset?

Further testing: network activity locks up the machine, even the
output of a buildworld, or a few seconds of ping -f.

Without network activity, the machine is able to even buildworld.

More: disabling PREEMPTION on the kernel config "solves" the
problem.

Can you still experience this problem on newer FreeBSD releases?
