To elaborate a little bit. I'm not a webmaster that's for sure, but what I miss from the old site are the two panes directly displaying important bullet lists information (about Platforms, Software, Documentation, Support, Bug Reports, Development, Release, etc). Now I should dig the new site and following uneeded links to get the informations. Please add the old, good and informative panes from the old site. Also you do not need big pictures in the center of the site, it should be feel with important texts (as it used to be). -- pub 4096R/0E4BD0AB 2003-03-18 <people.fccf.net/danchev/key pgp.mit.edu> fingerprint 1AE7 7C66 0A26 5BFF DF22 5D55 1C57 0C89 0E4B D0AB State Changed From-To: open->closed The PR database is for bugs. I don't consider this a bug. Please raise your issues on the appropriate mailing list (www@FreeBSD.org) for discussion. This PR is probably just going to be closed. You'll need to be more
specific if you want specific changes made. We appreciate feedback
but this is not helpful feedback. 'just change it back' is going to
get lost in the noise of the more positive or more detailed
criticisms. We have other more specific CSS/layout issues to addres.
The old site was cluttered and difficult to find any information. It
was also about a decade old and many of the pages were huge and poorly
structured as it had grown organically since 1995.

Too many buzztricks in front of it and important information is thrown away somewhere behind that new and stupid face. It doesn't fit the look of the handbook as found currently at http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/

We have other more specific CSS/layout issues to addres. Ok, I admit that I was quite annoyed thus being too fast this morning filing a non-detailed PR. The thread of my explanations/wishlists start from here: http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-www/2005-October/002909.html p.s. I'm not subscribed to the list, please cc. -- pub 4096R/0E4BD0AB 2003-03-18 <people.fccf.net/danchev/key pgp.mit.edu> fingerprint 1AE7 7C66 0A26 5BFF DF22 5D55 1C57 0C89 0E4B D0AB |
