Bug 87224

Summary: [usb] Cannot mount USB Zip750
Product: Base System Reporter: Ian Walker <walker.643>
Component: usbAssignee: freebsd-usb (Nobody) <usb>
Status: Open ---
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: Normal
Version: Unspecified
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description Ian Walker 2005-10-10 19:10:17 UTC
Cannot mount a FAT disk on USB Iomega Zip750 drive as root. Get "permission
denied" and later "Resource temporarily unavailable". Also, devfs (??)
seems to have found a partition inside of a partition (/dev/da1s4s4).

Fix:

None
How-To-Repeat: Boot system with Zip750 plugged in, su to root.
1) ll /dev/da1* shows da1, da1s4, and da1s4s4
2) "mount_msdosfs /dev/da1s4 /mnt" (as root) gives "Permission denied"
3) After 30 seconds or so, mount switches to "Resource temporarily unavailable"

So you still own that device and could test whether it works properly under
FreeBSD 7.x or even better yet FreeBSD 8.x?

This falls under the "Holy crap. Are you kidding?" heading. I think I
stopped using Zip drives around the time it stopped working on BSD. Sorry :(

I have to say, it is good to know that someone will always get around to
fixing bugs...even if it is five years later.
