              System is a Synertron-Lex CV863A based on C3 gigapro 1Ghz w/ 512MB ram

PCI cardslot is loaded w/ Soekris LAN 1641 which is a 4 port PCI card based on DP83816.

The card works fine in another system, and works fine in this system with FreeBSD 5.4

With 6.0 release 0 boot only iso, it crashes during boot while detecting hardware - I have tried reseting BIOS defaults for stability, and booting with acpi off, safe mode, etc. - same results.

Can log the full boot message if that will help and am totally willing to do any testing, confirmation, etc. of any information to help move this along - this is a roadblock for us at the moment though as some software we need depends on FreeBSD 6.0 and we need to get it running on this hardware...

Fix: 

FreeBSD 5.4 does not show the problem.
How-To-Repeat:               Insert a boot cd and let it run - it will fault 12, and restart after the first line showing information about sis1 (sis0 completes it's detection)

Something changed between versions - at first I thought the problem had
something to with the lan card - or maybe compatibility between the lan card
and the host system - but now I have a second lan card that produces the
same problem - but ONLY with FreeBSD 6.0 release.

I'm hoping stable is the right list? If it's supposed to be current, sorry -
first time posting a problem like this.

The first 4 lans are on the motherboard.

The Fault 12 occurs just after starting to detect the 6th lan interface.

The problem occurs in the same place with a different type of 4 port lan
card, however the problem does not occur in a system with only one LAN on
the motherboard (with version 6.0 or 5.4)

So below I have attached boot messages from a 6.0 bootonly.iso (I tried to
capture messages from a bootonly 5.4, but using "boot -h" or "boot -h -v"
stops after loading acpi - presumably when it starts using the serial port -
and yet in 6.0 - this is fine ;-)

Any help greatly appreciated - I'll do whatever testing and provide whatever
other information is required - thanks in advance!

Following up to my own post... I've just tried a single port NIC in the PCI
slot - that combination boots fine. But, as I mentioned before, it doesn't
seem to matter the chipset or PCI bridge chip (tried two different ones) -
it just seems to be that 6th network interface...

I don't have a dual port NIC readily available or I'd test that, but again,
it just seems to be related to this base board - BUT it worked in 5.4.

( the NIC that works was an intel / fxp nic)

I'm really sorry your PR hasn't touched for years.

Are you still able to reproduce the problem with a later release of
FreeBSD (say, latest 6.3-RELEASE)? If so, can you please provide a
backtrace so any developer can take a look at this problem?

If you're unable to reproduce the problem anymore, do you agree to
close this PR?
