State Changed From-To: open->closed Closing this PR: - it's old, for FreeBSD 6.0 - no followups - the error looks to be in sysinstall userland code |
When trying to install either at the console or via redirected serial console, FreeBSD-6.0/AMD64 is crashing during the 'base' part of the install when using ftp on local subnet. ─[ Progress ] ─────────────────┐ │ Extracting base into / directory... │ │ ┌─────────────── ─────────────────────────── ─┐ │ │ │ │ │ └ └─────────────────────────────────────── ─┘ │ └─────────────────────76 2% ──────────────────────┘ Fatal Error: Invalid realloc size of 0! - PRESS ANY KEY TO REBOOTes/sec. It is always around the 76% when this happens. I have tried to install on 15 Servers this week and in almost all cases this happens exactly as shown above. Fix: I have made Scott Long aware of this and was asked to submit this bug report. How-To-Repeat: Install FreeBSD-6.0/AMD64 using 'ftp' as the media.
