I think somewhere in the latest PHP upgrades (5.1.1, I think), pecl-fileinfo refuses to compile. Here's the fileinfo bug report, but an update has yet to be released: http://pecl.php.net/bugs/bug.php?id=6164

How-To-Repeat: cd /usr/ports/sysutils/pecl-fileinfo
make install
