Donating complete re-write of handbook chapter 23 ppp and slip.
Slip and kernel ppp is obsolete so removed it from rewrite. 
Renamed chapter  "Accessing the Internet".  
Could not test old section 23.6 Using PPP over ATM (pppoa). 
You can include that section at end of rewite stuff.
