Bug 98346

Summary: [kbd] caps lock and other keys are always illuminated
Product: Base System Reporter: Adhoniran Gomes <adhoniran.gomes>
Component: amd64Assignee: freebsd-amd64 (Nobody) <amd64>
Status: Closed FIXED
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: Normal
Version: 6.1-RELEASE
Hardware: Any
OS: Any

Description Adhoniran Gomes 2006-06-02 04:00:26 UTC
This is a standard Sun type5 keyboard and mouse combination.

The situation is that the Cap lock, Compose, and Scroll lock lights are
always illuminated while FreeBSD is running. The Num lock light never
becomes illuminated. Though the toggles for each of these works
appropriately, that is, I can actually *use* the num/caps/scroll lock
features normally via the keyboard toggle keys, the light illumination
is never changed. Compose, caps, and scroll lock lights are always on,
and num lock light is always off, regardless of those toggles.

The problem is purely aesthetic in nature, but it'd be nice to have a fix.

    My english is bad!

Fix:

Oh, I'm sorry, I dont have a fix for this problem.
How-To-Repeat: Always.

While using FreeBSD 6.0-RELEASE AMD64 the problem does not exist, and using FreeBSD 6.1-RELEASE AMD64 the problem exist, but only while using console mode. Everything is OK using KDE.

Does disabling device kbdmux0 either in the kernel or in loader.conf help?

not my bug but I add something if allowed

it does not matter if kbmux is compiled in or not

on certain computers using releng_6 it seems to work know and on others sti=
ll=20
not
on certain computers then the caps-lock mecanism works but the led stays off
probably related, sometimes the boot probe hangs

I believe this has already been fixed, and my today's changes
make CapsLock LED work under X.
