I just added a SIL3112a generic SATA controller and 2 Optiarc DVD RW AD-7170S/1.00 drives. Machine has an existing IDE controller with LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-160P6S/PS0B. During boot system hangs after displaying cd0 messages (IDE). Problem goes away after rebooting to original kernel. Fix: unknown How-To-Repeat: Boot with atapicam enabled
I read the wrong part number off of the box, this is the dmesg string for the card: atapci3: <SiI 3512 SATA150 controller> port 0xcc00-0xcc07,0xc880-0xc883,0xc800-0xc807,0xc480-0xc483,0xc400-0xc40f mem 0xfaaffc00-0xfaaffdff irq 16 at device 8.0 on pci4 Also, it appears to hang when dd-ing from a cd to /dev/null. There is another open ticket for a hang related to a similar chipset when used with a harddisk. Thanks
So the original kernel is the GENERIC kernel delivered by 6.2? And the new kernel that fails is a GENERIC KERNEL with ATAPICAM added? -- Kind regards, Remko Lodder ** remko@elvandar.org FreeBSD ** remko@FreeBSD.org /* Quis custodiet ipsos custodes */

----- Forwarded message from milojah <milojah@gmail.com> ----- Yes, but I got the silimage model number wrong. It's 3512a. If I stress the controller (dd if=/dev/acd1 of=/dev/null bs=512k) the machine will hang before completion with the GENERIC kernel. When I searched for 3512 I found an existing open bug for hangs, so I assume it's a bad card. I just ordered 2 more SATA controllers, a VIA chipset and a jr-something. I am just trying to use some SATA DVD-Rs. If you like, I can send you the silimage card, so you can test. Thanks ----- End forwarded message -----

atapicam is no more after FreeBSD 9.x. Long live atacam and friends.
