Description Peter 2010-01-08 10:20:01 UTC
When using a rootserver (MSI K8T Neo 2 V2 Mainboard with VIA VT8237 Chip)
with a configured raid 1 (/dev/ar0) - you might not want to do an upgrade
to freebsd 8.0-RELEASE like described here:
http://www.daemonology.net/blog/2009-07-11-freebsd-update-to-8.0-beta1.html

You won't have any problens installing the kernel, userland and 3rd party
apps - but after the last reboot the box fails with the message "Fatal
Error Occured, Raid relationship and Content of all hdds ill be DESTROIED
- Continue (C)" (Yes, with that typo).

I doublechecked everything and repeated the whole procedure twice. After
recovering my lost partitions, i found out that the fstab changed from
/dev/ar0 to /dev/ad4 and /dev/ad6 somewhere during the upgrade process.
This may be a lead to the problem.

As I am just a user and not a skilled bsd admin, I am sorry if this issue
is already known or may just be a result of my lack of knowledge.

Fix:

no fix known... reverted to 7.2
How-To-Repeat: Upgrade just like written above using the same hardware...

Responsible Changed
From-To: freebsd-bugs->freebsd-fs

I can't really figure out how to classify this one, since it talks
about "/dev/ar0" as being a disk device, but it's clearly fs-related.
