I've just enabled IPv6 in our office network. www.freebsd.org works fine, it has an A and AAAA DNS record. There's a drop down menu for switching to mirror sites. IPv6 Armenia - ok IPv6 Austria/1 - www.at.freebsd.org has no AAAA record (and the A record does not respond) IPv6 Austria/2 - www2.at.freebsd.org has no AAAA record IPv6 Czech Republic - ok IPv6 Denmark - ok IPv6 Japan - ok IPv6 Taiwan/1 - www.tw.freebsd.org has no AAAA record IPv6 Taiwan/2 - www5.tw.freebsd.org - ok IPv6 Turkey - www3.tr.freebsd.org - ok IPv6 USA/1 - www2.us.freebsd.org - NXDOMAIN IPv6 USA/2 - www4.us.freebsd.org - NXDOMAIN Fix: - fix www/data/index.html and/or - fix DNS entries and/or - fix IPv6 connectivity How-To-Repeat: Make sure you are IPv6 enabled (ping6 ipv6.google.com should work for example). Use your favourite browser and go to www.freebsd.org and try to connect to one of the problematic IPv6 mirror sites using the drop down menu.
State Changed From-To: open->feedback Set the status to "feedback needed". I am trying to get information from the webmaster of the different mirrors.
I was in contact with the webmaster of the Austrian mirrors. He confirmed the issue and promised to fix it. According to him the first mirror should be okay now, 2nd mirror will be fixed soon: > dig AAAA ftp.at.freebsd.org ; <<>> DiG 9.4.2-P2 <<>> AAAA ftp.at.freebsd.org ;; global options: printcmd ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 27227 ;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 1, AUTHORITY: 2, ADDITIONAL: 2 ;; QUESTION SECTION: ;ftp.at.freebsd.org. Hi! All 3 {www, ftp and cvsup}.at.FreeBSD.org mirrors should now resolve to bot= h=20 IPv4 and IPv6 adresses. Due to low access Univie has decided to take down all 3 {www2, ftp2 and=20 cvsup2}.at.FreeBSD.org mirrors. regards, Alfred Nagl =2D-=20 Alfred Nagl IT-Services / Network Administration WU=20 Wirtschaftsuniversit=E4t Wien Vienna University of Economics and Business=20 Augasse 2-6, A-1090 Vienna, Austria Phone: +43 1 313 36 / 4811 =46ax: +43 1 313 36 / 904811

We removed the mirror selection pulldown menu from the website in r49932. This make this PR obsolete and hence overcome by events. PR Closed!
