Description Peer Stritzinger 2011-08-25 21:20:08 UTC
Downloaded the 8.2 memstick i386 image.

Boots ok, sysinstall menues work, can enter fdisk, disklabel etc.

Then it wants to know from where I want to install. When I chose
USB-Stick there is a message that the USB-Stick can't be found.

When I do a 'echo dev/*' in the emergency shell I don't see any da*
devices. There is /dev/usb, /dev/usbctrl, and 4 /dev/ugen devices.

Tried several emulation settings in the EFI BIOS for the USB Stick,
some don't boot the others have the same error.

Tried "rescan" option but didn't make the USB-Stick appear.

Fix:

None so far :-(
How-To-Repeat: Try to install from USB-Stick on this ASUS Board

Found in the the mailing list:

Add a line to /boot/loader.conf :

kern.cam.boot_delay=10000
This fixed the problem for me.
Maybe it would be a good idea to add this to the USB image as default?
