Description Miguel de Val Borro 2012-01-13 16:40:02 UTC
I have written the 9.0-RELEASE memstick image to a USB device on a Linux machine using these commands:

# dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdb
# dd if=FreeBSD-9.0-RELEASE-i386-memstick.img of=/dev/sdb bs=64k

When I try to boot from the USB memory stick I get a blank screen.

How-To-Repeat: The problem is reproducible using other arguments to the dd command such as 'bs=10240 conv=sync' and 'bs=4096'

I'm experiencing similar with 11.0-Release. The system won't complete POST with the memstick connected. It's a Dell Inspiron 545 Core 2 Quad with G33 chipset. Meanwhile a CD install works fine. I found a few messages indicating this might be an issue with EFI.

Unfortunately this PR was never addressed before these versions of FreeBSD went out of support. Sorry.

If this is still a problem, please open a new PR. Thanks.
