Description Markus Klaschka 2012-07-23 00:40:09 UTC
No idea if that HDD is damaged or the case/cable, but result is that complete X hangs on I/O errors on the device.
cpu, load, ints, ... all ok, nothing shows blockage of performance, but system blocks comletely for a few secs

no idea if that can be solved, but would be gret, as it on one side is very anoying and on the other is bad to tell people to use BSD, show them and than that...

Fix:

that sits to deep as I could give any clues about it
How-To-Repeat: produce an I/O error by connecting an damaged disk to your system and mount it( should be still mountable )

Hi,

This is not an USB issue, but a file-system issue. Please re-file.

It is not USB hanging.

Possibly something to do with HALD.

per hps@ this isn't a USB issue. Put this into the general pool for someone else to take a look.
