Description Brett Wynkoop 2013-01-26 00:00:00 UTC
Visiting ftp.freebsd.org seems to yield no ISO for the 9.x branch of FreeBSD for x86 systems.

lynx ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/i386/ISO-IMAGES/

                                /pub/FreeBSD/releases/i386/ISO-IMAGES directory
Current directory is /pub/FreeBSD/releases/i386/ISO-IMAGES

   Up to i386
Mar 22 2010 Directory 7.3
Feb 20 2011 Directory 7.4
Jul 19 2010 Directory 8.1
Feb 20 2011 Directory 8.2
Apr 10 2012 Directory 8.3
Dec 19 2005 text/plain README.TXT 1Kb

Fix:

Put the 9.x ISO images for FreeBSD in their proper place.
How-To-Repeat: lynx ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/i386/ISO-IMAGES/

Try

ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/ISO-IMAGES/9.1

or

ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/i386/i386/ISO-IMAGES/9.1

Or preferably use your local FreeBSD mirror

Greeting-

They are where you pointed me, and in fact I found that path by walking
about the ftp server after I put in the PR, but I believe this is still
a small bug because that is the location of older releases and it is
the location one comes to easily if one steps up the tree from the
AMD64 directory.

I would think either a README saying where 9.x is found or a symlink
might be a good thing.

Thanks for the response!

FTP server layout was reorganized in 2013 when introducing powerpc64 images, which now keeps an additional arch subdirectory.
