Is this PR still relevant?
Getting a segmentation fault when running X -configure or xorg -configure is a known defect. These days there is hardly any need to create a xorg.conf file, the defaults are usually OK. If you need to override part of the configuration, create a config file under /usr/local/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ containing only the relevant section.
