The biinary packages repository for people running 9.3 and uing new_xorg does not contain the new version of the ATI drivers. At the time of submitting this it still appears to contain version 6, whereas it should be version 7. I did not find this myself, I was informed of this when I asked on -stable about how to get my graphics card working under new_xorg. See the (wrongly titled!) thread here: http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-stable/2014-July/079379.html
this is known I think. The repo can only have either old or new, but not both. And it affects more than just one port. It's an entire set of either "old" or "new". Do you want me to pass this to X11? I don't think anything is going to change, it just "is". People wanting new will just have to build from source with the proper make.conf settings.
yes, the repo can only have old or new - but thats the reaosn for having two repos. There is the standard one which contains the "old" ports, and the extra repo for new_corg users specificly only containing the afected ports which need to be compiled with "NEW_XORG" set. That why you need to configure a second repo if you are using new_xorg. The repo for "new" xorg does copntain the new packages for all of the other bits of X11, but this one was apparently missed. If you could pass on to X11 then that would be great - I dont think I have misiunderstood the reason for having the two repositories, and it could be fixed fairly easily I believe. thanks!
I didn't know there were two repos. Over to maintainer group...
