In r367011, %D/etc/dbus-1/session.d directory was removed from pkg-plist. This directory, even if it's empty, is required for some applications, like xfce4-session to start properly. Without it, attempting to start X bails with no obvious errors. Please add back the removed directory.

That is wrong pkg(8) do create a directory for every @dirrm and @dirrm etc/dbus-1/session.d is still in the plist so the directory will still be created.
You are right. I just did "make package" and pkg version 1.3.7 correctly installs these directories. However, I use binary FreeBSD.org + new_xorg packages on this system and after updating yesterday this directory was missing from my system. Any thoughts how this could happen?
I do not have any clue here sorry
I can no longer reproduce this after today's binary pkg repository update.
I can't reproduce this on any of my systems anymore, so I'll close the issue.
