It is because emacs23 is used now.

While using editors/emacs(24.4), the following cannot use it by a compile error.

editors/apel

editors/flim (For editors/apel compile error)
editors/semi (For editors/apel compile error)
japanese/navi2ch (For editors/apel compile error)

Hi,

Emacs 23 is not supported upstream, and gets texinfo errors during building, so the best course of action, I think is to remove it from ports.

I'm wondering if you could test out apel[1] (from Wanderlust repository), and see if it works for you, then maybe we can ask MANTANI-san (maintainer of editors/apel, added to this bug thread) to switch to that instead.

[1] https://github.com/wanderlust/apel/

Thanks,
Ashish

editors/emacs23 is purged sometime ago, and the issue with editors/apel is fixed in bug 193270.
