Cinnamon's clock applet appears to always go blank on startup. There is a space about two characters wide where the display should be. If I right-click and change the format of the output string, the display will appear. However, it will disappear again on the next login.

Cinnamon 2.4 is on the works. When it gets tested I'll cook a fix for that (if the bug's still present)
Cinnamon 2.4 made it into the gnome-3.14 branch in the freebsd-gnome-ports git repo. I tested it and the clock appears. Could you test that git branch and report back?
