This is related to PR 196712 and blocks updating the default version of GCC from 4.8 to 4.9. I believe what is happening here is that OpenEXR uses GCC on older versions of FreeBSD and when linking with the OpenEXR libraries we then fail to pull in the proper NEWER GCC run-time libraries. This can be fixed by building (or at least linking) with the same compiler that OpenEXR is built with. See OpenEXR/Makefile for how this is done there. http://package18.nyi.freebsd.org/data/93i386-default-PR196712/2015-01-18_16h49m19s/logs/errors/fyre-1.0.1_7.log c++ -O2 -pipe -fno-strict-aliasing -o fyre main.o de-jong.o explorer.o color-button.o animation.o chunked-file.o curve-editor.o spline.o explorer-tools.o explorer-animation.o explorer-about.o explorer-history.o cell-renderer-transition.o cell-renderer-bifurcation.o histogram-imager.o iterative-map.o parameter-holder.o bifurcation-diagram.o math-util.o gui-util.o avi-writer.o parameter-editor.o histogram-view.o animation-render-ui.o screensaver.o batch-image-render.o probability-map.o prefix.o image-fu.o exr.o remote-server.o remote-client.o discovery-server.o discovery-client.o explorer-cluster.o cluster-model.o -lglade-2.0 -lgtk-x11-2.0 -lgdk-x11-2.0 -lpangocairo-1.0 -latk-1.0 -lcairo -pthread -lgdk_pixbuf-2.0 -lgio-2.0 -lpangoft2-1.0 -lpango-1.0 -lgobject-2.0 -lglib-2.0 -lintl -lfontconfig -lfreetype -L/usr/local/lib -lxml2 -lIlmImf -L/usr/local/lib -lImath-2_2 -lIexMath-2_2 -lHalf -lIex-2_2 -lIlmThread-2_2 -pthread -lgnet-2.0 -lgthread-2.0 -pthread -L/usr/local/lib -lglib-2.0 -lintl /usr/local/lib/libIlmImf.so: undefined reference to `std::__throw_out_of_range_fmt(char const*, ...)@GLIBCXX_3.4.20' Makefile:376: recipe for target 'fyre' failed gmake[2]: *** [fyre] Error 1 gmake[2]: Leaving directory '/wrkdirs/usr/ports/graphics/fyre/work/fyre-1.0.1/src' Makefile:260: recipe for target 'all-recursive' failed gmake[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 gmake[1]: Leaving directory '/wrkdirs/usr/ports/graphics/fyre/work/fyre-1.0.1' Makefile:196: recipe for target 'all' failed gmake: *** [all] Error 2 *** [do-build] Error code 1
OpenEXR no longer employes USE_GCC=yes, so this issue should be resolved without changes to graphics/fyre.
