This is the build log for webkit-gtk2

Attempting to update this port results in failure. The following is the ending error notice:

I can reproduce it if /usr/local/bin/ar from binutils is installed and
found before /usr/bin/ar in $PATH.

Yes, this is a known problem. IMHO, it is one that should be corrected or at least have the correct path coded into the Makefile.

Is the problem still relevant, as www/webkit-gtk2 is now at 2.4.9 ?

This problem is already described in 195500 and possible solution is provided, so I'm closing this as a duplicate.
