Official version on Sourceforge hasn't been updated in almost 2 years and currently the updates for MalwarePatrol and SecuriteInfo are not working due to changes at those providers. I'm suggesting switching from the original to the fork by eXtremeSHOK at https://github.com/extremeshok/clamav-unofficial-sigs It's being maintained and has been modifed to work with the newer signature updates.
The suggested forked version of the script contains a lot of unnecessary modifications. One example is hardcoding usernames and paths that are CenOS/RedHat specific. Another example is slight change in config file syntax that makes old config files unusable. All this would require quite a lot of patching for which I don't have time or interest. Having said all this, it would be much better to create a separate port for this forked version as it is basically a different script, but that would require someone to volunteer their time. If the original script doesn't get updated in the near future, I would probably drop support for it and suggest for it to be removed from the ports collection.
I have a patch updating this port to extremeshok's version. It has been working without problems on my mail server. I can take over maintainership of this port and update it if it's ok with current maintainer. The configuration files between those versions are incompatible, so in case of an upgrade information about necessary config change should go into UPDATING.
Created attachment 168292 [details] PORT Upgrade clamav-unofficial-sigs 3.7.2 to 4.9.2 This is an upgrade to the clamav-unofficial-sigs port from 3.7.2 to 4.9.2 which now uses the eXtremeSHOK script and accurately fetches the Sanesecurity, FOXHOLE, OITC, Scamnailer, BOFHLAND, CRDF, Porcupine, Securiteinfo, MalwarePatrol. The old script is nolonger being updated since 2013.
There's a newer proposed update to the new upstream in the newer PR. I hope the current maintainer is commenting on this one, after 9 more month of no changes in the old upstream. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 208326 ***
It would be nice if we could finally get this port updated finally.
