There are several out-of-date parts of the website, but perhaps the worst is the link to DaemonNews, which now appears to be some kind of spam website. Page: http://www.freebsd.org/advocacy/myths.html Paragraph starting: "The *BSD projects cooperate in other areas as well." I would suggest the whole paragraph could be removed. The whole section could use an update, too, since FreeBSD/NetBSD/OpenBSD have been split for over 20 years now. Aside from Dragonfly and perhaps PC-BSD i don't really think anything else has a lot of mindshare today.
A commit references this bug: Author: brueffer Date: Tue Jul 14 11:45:00 UTC 2015 New revision: 46967 URL: https://svnweb.freebsd.org/changeset/doc/46967 Log: Remove link to the defunct DaemonNews site; adapt BSD fork timescales. PR: 201366 Submitted by: Alison Winters Changes: head/en_US.ISO8859-1/htdocs/advocacy/myths.xml
Thanks for the notice Alison, I hopefully addressed the issues in the committed change. I think keeping the entry around is still useful, this myth really does pop up frequently. Since PC-BSD (and pfSense etc) are not really forks in the sense of the article, I left them out. Please let us know in case you have further comments, thanks!
