In monit 5.15 the connection parameters preceding the generic send/expect test cause syntax error, the attached patch ported from upstream (https://bitbucket.org/tildeslash/monit/commits/93afc865d98ce46b6f7b5a8e0a835f1343cf7723) fixes the problem.

Monit 5.16 which fixes the problem was released today, the PR is no longer valid.

PR for monit port updates was submitted already (https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=206915)
