Description Yanhui He 2016-05-30 10:07:15 UTC
Hi,

Description of problem:

VGAuth service was disabled in open-vm-tools 9.4.0, 10.0.5, 10.1.0 included in FreeBSD 10.3. This needs to enabled as soon as possible
because it makes open-vm-tools in FreeBSD less usable than VMware Tools.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 9.4.0, 10.0.5, 10.1.0

How reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install open-vm-tools 9.4.6, 10.0.5, 10.1.0 package
2. Check for VGAuth service ($ ps -ef | grep -i vgauth)

Actual results: service is not running

Expected results: VGAuthService should be running

Please kindly fix this problem in FreeBSD.

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
Yanhui

vgauth is not supported by open-vm-tools on FreeBSD. Sorry. Even in the updated version, we disable it. (See PR 212471). Closing, will re-enable it when upstream supports it. Until then, please contact upstream developers.
