From freebsd 8.4 I try update /usr/src via svn to version 10.3-stable. After building world, GENERIC kernel and install them, after reboot I can see empty list of network adapter (ifconfig). Dmesg listed successful finding em0 and rl0 adapter and bring up both without error.

This suggests you have kernel/world version mismatch due to pilot error.

The new operating system kernel must not work on the previous version ? while running freebsd-update? Over 10 years of operation, the first attempt at an update statement that failed. I don't think so..

Thanks for the idea. Rebuild the world and the kernel of 9.3-stable, installed the new kernel in the 8.4 system - it works. A problem particularly in 10.3...
