Traceroutes

Hello,

I've been noticing very slow download speeds (~50 KB/s) from the bme mirror for the past weeks.
It appears that only Deutsche Telekom customers are affected.

=== ISP: Deutsche Telekom ===

~ ❯❯❯ fetch --bind-address=192.168.11.110 http://pkg0.bme.freebsd.org/freebsd:10:x86:64/latest/All/rust-1.11.0.txz
rust-1.11.0.txz                                 1% of   75 MB   52 kBps 23m15s^C
fetch: transfer interrupted

=== ISP: Kabel Deutschland ===

~ ❯❯❯ fetch --bind-address=192.168.15.110 http://pkg0.bme.freebsd.org/freebsd:10:x86:64/latest/All/rust-1.11.0.txz
rust-1.11.0.txz                               100% of   75 MB 3333 kBps 00m24s

Traceroutes for both ISPs are attached.

Several Telekom customers on Twitter and IRC have similar problems while using the bme mirror.

Other mirrors, for example ydx, can be used at normal speeds with Telekom.

There's also packet loss on the way from Telekom to Bytemark:

I can confirm this problem. We're also getting very log download rates from this mirror from multiple locations in Germany, not only over Telekom connections. We are using the mirror pkg0.nyi.freebsd.org at the moment and it's very fast for us.

Bytemark are very responsive and investigating:

jHi,

Apologies - I've only just seen this.

Firstly, can you let me know if you're still seeing issues?

Thanks,

Gavin

(In reply to Gavin Atkinson from comment #4)
Hi Gavin,
I'm getting far more reasonable speeds from bme with my Telekom line now,
the slowness observed before has vanished.

At least one commenter has noted that the problem is now resolved. Please let us know if it is still a problem.
