Fetched from http://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/book.html-split.tar.bz2 for local installation shows that all png images have wrong path <img src="/local0/docbuild/build/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/../../../share/images/books/handbook/bsdinstall/bsdinstall-keymap-select-default.png" instead of <img src="bsdinstall/bsdinstall-keymap-select-default.png" possibly other built books are affected.
In latest versions of the documentation all images have still wrong links. Attention maintainers: Please give a feedback here in a timely manner, as one never knows if PRs entered ever reaches a responsible person.
It reaches people, though I do not have much of an idea why the links look like that. I would need to know more about the build environment in which that tarball is generated to be able to say anything useful, I think.
The links obviously reflect the path of the environment where it was built. This is obviously not the path a website can use. Thanks for the timely feedback, as a missing feedback looks like the PR has gone to nirwana. ;)
I build the handbook myself and the image links looks good. I have no idea why the links are broken on our download server. We need to investigate.
I truly do not understand this. I am unable to reproduce the incorrect URLs, even using the same scripts that generate the file(s) in question.
Ping!! As the problem still exists for all downloadable books in http://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/ It is a HTML bug!
After 3 years I my conclusion is to stop contributing to documentation. Bye.
