The makewhatis(1) manual page has a HISTORY section. It mentions everything except FreeBSD (2BSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD). The history of FreeBSD 2.1 to FreeBSD 10 is missing. Same for AUTHORS See the old makewhatis(1) manpage in FreeBSD 10: https://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=makewhatis&apropos=0&sektion=0&manpath=FreeBSD+10.4-RELEASE&arch=default&format=html

I have mentioned FreeBSD in the makewhatis(1) manual page and upstreamed the changes to OpenBSD. I didn't update the authors section since it is a "new" program even if the name is the same.
