I am new to FreeBSD and I wanted to install it to an 8GB SD card on my MSI X-610 laptop (from a USB stick). However, after the installation completed the boot process failed. This is because the device name for the SD card changed (from /dev/da1s1a) after the install and I had to label the partition (using tunefs) and manually edit the /etc/fstab file to get it working. All of this could have been avoided if the handbook had stressed the usefulness/importance of using labels (especially if installing to removable media) during the disk selection section of the installation process. It would also be good if the FreeBSD installer were to prompt to label the installation partition (again during the disk selection section of the installation process), especially if installing to removable media.
