Description Slawomir Wojciech Wojtczak 2018-09-22 12:28:03 UTC
Hi,

I have just tried the new LUA loader BE menu from 12.0-ALPHA6 and - I do not want to be rude, sorry - but it sucks :/

The BE switching now is a lot worse then what we had with 'old loader'.

Corresponding images and another comment on that case can be found here:

Is there a chance to implement a list of BE's like it was on the 'old loader' before 12.0-RELEASE?

Regards,
vermaden

This PR is light on actionable detail. Can you please describe the issue beyond "it sucks" and "a lot worse than before."

Hi,

I though that the link to Twitter showed all but seems not.

The old loader showed list of BEs like on page 24 of this PDF file: http://is.gd/BEADM

The new loader does not display list but the 'thing' showed on the Twitter link.

The new LUA loader is not at parity with the old Forth loader with respect to boot environment selection for ZFS data sets.

FWIW, can confirm, still an issue on 12.x

My goal: being able to tell default from 11.1 at boot time.

Ahh, this seems to be much better than I thought. I just have to press 2 to cycle through the elements.

Now make more BE's and predict their order
