Description Eitan 2018-10-26 10:13:42 UTC
when we install the freebsd 11.1, it can't find floppy drive at the loader prompt, so we can't install raid driver by the floppy. it differs from freebsd 11.2 and 10.x before.

freebsd11.1 named the partition "partX: xxx blocks" which can't be used by command "load partX:xxx.ko" and can't found the ko module.

However, the freebsd 11.2 named the partition "diskX: xxx blocks" which can be used by "load diskX:xxx.ko"

Adding imp@ as he has great insight in this area.
I thought we did not remove the floppy support at all, or did I miss something some place. If we did remove it we may beed to bring it back, if this is being caused by something else (lack of floppy in lua loader?) we need to fix it.

disk7 in the 11.2 screenshot looks like a floppy drive to me.
Comment 5 Eitan 2018-10-27 01:23:11 UTC
yes, freebsd 11.2 is ok, and we use the disk7 which is the floppy, but freebsd 11.1 can't find which the floppy is, and we try the partitions from part0 to part4 but nothing. (In reply to Warner Losh from comment #4)
