Description Evilham 2020-05-26 09:16:57 UTC
Hello, was discussing some things related to this with debdrup yesterday, and I realised that something that'd help using sndio in FreeBSD would be one of those fantastic pkg-messages after installation.

Otherwise it looks to me like the only place where the rc script is documented is the rc-script itself.

Tested under poudriere without network access and installing on a machine without sndio.

Cheers,

Improved wording because the rc script's defaults aren't the same as sndiod's. Thanks to debdrup for asking to clarify that.

Add a pkg-message to sndio

I'm sorry but I don't like it. Sndio will work out of the box
without any setup and transparently in the simplest case and using
sndiod is optional. This pkg-message gives the impression that you
must run sndiod to use audio/sndio which is just plain wrong.

Oh, I see, just tried things again without sndiod and indeed it is not necessary; I guess this assumption remained from a previous test phase.

Thank you and sorry for the noise.
