Description jeremy@coyotetrackz.com 2020-10-09 11:27:20 UTC
After upgrading all of the packages on FreeBSD 12.1 p10 I started having issues with the "Window List" applet that is on the lower panel. When I logged back into my Mate session I got an error that the "Workspace Switcher", "Window List" and "Show Desktop" quite unexpectedly. After removing those items from the lower panel I am able to add the "Workspace Switcher" and "Show Desktop" back to the lower panel. If I try and add the "Window List" back to the panel I get the same 3 error messages. So it seems that the issue is with the "Window List".

I'm running freebsd on 2 Dell Laptops and each laptop is having the same issue. Both laptops are using the 'drm-kmod' package for the intel graphics card. The laptop I'm on right now is a Dell Latittude E7450 with an I7 processor.

I also noticed that the mate package is listed as being version 1.22.2 where the associated mate packages (like mate-applets) are listed as being version 1.24.0 or above, but I'm not sure if this is part of the issue.

Same problem here after upgrading mate ports.

+1.

Importance could be changed to "Affects some people".
At least 2 persons state this problem on freebsd-ports ML [1] and freebsd-gnome ML [2] (cross posted, each points to the top of thread).

IIRC, these applets ran OK before x11/mate-panel update (r551471), but strangely enough, rolling back x11/mate-panel to r551470 and rebuild/reinstall didn't help.

This has been fixed in mate-panel 1.24.1_1 both latest and quarterly, this packages will soon hit the mirrors.
