Does build drm-kmod from ports help? Please refer to bug 250700 (comment #1) for more information.
Not the original reporter. My system (Lenovo ThinkCentre desktop) hangs completely when trying to load amdgpu. Monitor goes black and system is unresponsive, no ssh and no graceful shutdown pressing shortly the power button. (In reply to cvelbar from comment #5) This is strange, considering the driver is mostly the same. Can you provide dmseg from a working system, as well as panic information from 12.2? The support for raven ridge in 12 is sketchy, to get good support you probably need to go to FreeBSD CURRENT.

Just upgraded from 12.1-RELEASE-p10 to 12.2-RELEASE and experiencing exactly the same issue with an RX580 using the latest drm-fbsd12.0-kmod-4.16.g20200221 binary package. Booting with the old kernel (12.1) works, but booting with the new (12.2) kernel produces the same backtrace as in the OP's screenshot. Unfortunately there is no crash dump in /var/crash either.

Original submitter, can you verify that you have the sources for FreeBSD 12.2 in /usr/src, and then rebuild drm-fbsd12.0-kmod locally and try again? Since it fixes the problem for other people with the same issue, I'd like you to verify that you actually have the 12.2 sources in /usr/src before rebuilding the driver.

(In reply to Niclas Zeising from comment #6) I managed to get a new HD and installed 13.0-CURRENT on the machine, checked out the latest /usr/src, recompiled the kernel and compiled drm-devel-kmod-5.4.63. The module gets loaded and the system does not hang up. I still have to try X or Wayland (currently compiling xorg) Eventually, I could provide access to the machine if there is interest.
