This is kind of a known issue with WPS - when I did the test, the rpm package also crashes on Fedora. The deb package, on the other hand, seems to run fine on Ubuntu.

Please feel free to open this if there is additional info revealed.

OK. If I can get a meaningful backtrace, will that help?

I think it's an issue with the linux C library: it's not the first time they have a mismatch, They develop this on Ubuntu, and it is not uncommon to have issues with other distributions.
