The button is not effective for me with Firefox 95.0.2, I guess that it uses a deprecated approach. 

I guess, remove the button.

The search engine (OpenSearch?) can be added in more modern ways, e.g. as pictured at <https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/83557/>.

This link is provided in a default upstream installation, as such removal of the feature if it no longer works, or replacing it, in the base code is an issue better reported and resolved upstream [1]

In the meantime, we may remove the link in our custom templates. We'd welcome a GitHub PR on this

If/when this is complete, bug 225060 will block it (modulo manual deployment)
