Trying to do some late spring cleanup in our repo I noticed that this depends on nearly a 10y old unmaintained multimedia library (Gmerlin). Would it be acceptable to remove this plugin or is it a crucial component? Best regards, Daniel
frei0r has three filters that require multimedia/gavl. None of the filters are critical to each other. I don't have any data on who uses which filters, though. I have taken maintainership of multimedia/gavl; I don't see any point in getting rid of it just because it is old. multimedia/gmerlin is a leaf. If you want to put it up for deprecation, that's up to you.
Fine with me, can we in that case try to follow Debian who seems to maintain it somewhat? https://salsa.debian.org/multimedia-team/gavl
(In reply to Daniel Engberg from comment #2) I will look into it. Thanks!
Hi Jason, This probably "needs" to go now as libquicktime is abandonware and doesn't compile with FFmpeg 6.0 which gmerlin depends on. Reference: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=261302#c46
(In reply to Daniel Engberg from comment #4) Gavl doesn’t depend on libquicktime, so I’m removing the block you added. Like I said in comment #2, do what you want with gmerlin.
Ahh sorry, thanks for the pointer!
