We have multiple versions hosted on people's personal webdirs that we most likely should hide or simply remove. There are possibly more but these are what I found doing a simple search using Google. https://people.freebsd.org/~rodrigc/doc/handbook/makeworld.html https://people.freebsd.org/~trhodes/doc/handbook/index.html https://people.freebsd.org/~blackend/doc/handbook/index.html https://people.freebsd.org/~nik/book.pdf.gz https://people.freebsd.org/~meganm/data/docs.html
(In reply to Daniel Engberg from comment #0) Randomly picking one of the five, <https://people.freebsd.org/~blackend/doc/handbook/index.html> revision 48108 is also indexed and found (with an archive banner) at <https://docs.freebsd.org/doc/10.3-RELEASE/usr/local/share/doc/freebsd/en/books/handbook/>. <https://cgit.freebsd.org/doc/commit/?id=a0f41809ca112eb4eb5e98f7d0921e65f7cb0ee2> and <https://cgit.freebsd.org/doc/commit/?id=44de4593873ab1e85e1487c2a8540262a3b09744> (2022-12-10) were: > Improve SEO of the Documentation Portal > > * Remove SVN tag > * Stop indexing the archive I can't recall the query through which the archived version was found, sorry. It was almost certainly with Google.
Thanks. I'll try to fix this ASAP.
Found another one too... https://people.freebsd.org/~amdmi3/handbook/
Friendly ping
(In reply to Daniel Engberg from comment #4) In theory in a couple of days these URLs will be removed from the search engines.
In theory in the last changes implemented by dbaio@ this problem should be solved. I'm gonna close this PR. We're gonna continue improving the SEO of the Documentation Portal. Thanks!
