Description Rich Gannon 2023-02-13 19:04:03 UTC
Forgive me for my ignorance, I have never submitted a FreeBSD bug/PR, never updated or made a Port, and am generally new to this process.

With that said, this request comes with a bit of background of changes over the years of the software.

Hercules' original branch appears to be no longer maintained. The maintainers create a development branch for Hercules 4.x with a codename of "Hyperion." A release candidate was released in 2016 and there has been little development on this branch since, leading to abandonment (https://hercules-390.github.io/html/ , https://github.com/hercules-390/hyperion).

The Hercules 4.0 "Hyperion" branch has been cloned by SoftwareDevLabs (SDL) and continues active community development continues through this SDL branch (https://sdl-hercules-390.github.io/html/ , https://github.com/SDL-Hercules-390/hyperion).

I am hoping someone can get this Port updated, or perhaps a new port specific to the SDL branch ("hercules-sdl" or "hyperion-sdl"?) which has has significant development since the currently available hercules-3.13 Port.

I am happy to be a beta tester any work on this Port.

Hi Rich,

The port has no maintainer and hence it is more unlikely to get updates. All the information on how to proceed is in https://docs.freebsd.org/en/books/porters-handbook/book/

Would like to try and submit a patch?
