Just a porter's note that cleanfeed should be the default filer in those directories
and not the filter_innd ons that come prepackaged

Can you clarify? What port(s) are you referring to?

In both.  The default /usr/local/news/bin/filter_innd.pl will replace /usr/local/news/bin/cleanfeed when a new inn* port update occurs.  I usually have filter_inn.pl as a pointer to cleanfeed.  An updated ports wipes the symbolic link.  Please look in making cleanfeed the default filter_innd.pl
