Linux lspci

FreeBSD 14.1, fresh install on ThinkPad T400 (see attached hardware listing by Linux lspci). I'm trying to follow the Handbook 3.2.3:
# kldload vesa
# vidcontrol -i mode
for selecting other modes than 80x25. 
loading "vesa" fails. No modes are listed then. I guess that is an obsoleted solution and I should anything else?

It is a ThinkPad T400. There was no UEFI when it's been made ;-) BIOS/MBR
