Primarily a website issue, although there are occurrences elsewhere.
Instead of removing the email address, I suggest replacing it with "InMemoriam" or something similar. So "Hans Petter Selasky <hps@selasky.org>" would become "Hans Petter Selasky <hps-InMemoriam>" in the example below. The informs the reader rather than having them wonder why the email is missing. Thoughts?
Thanks. In contexts such as status reports, parentheses will be ideal, for example: > Contact: Hans Petter Selasky (in memoriam) – with "in memoriam" linking to one of the following: a) <https://issue.freebsdfoundation.org/publication/?i=799847&p=3&view=issueViewer> b) <https://freebsdfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/In_Memoriam.pdf> A decision about which format is better may be guided by the plea that led to this report – from a blind person. My response: * <https://www.reddit.com/r/freebsd/comments/1juu17l/accessibility_options/mm5hvz4/> ---- Hans aside: when I opened bug 283665, I did not think of things such as the wiki. So: * <https://wiki.freebsd.org/MikeKarels>
(In reply to Graham Perrin from comment #2) I think it might be more useful if we link to the "In Memoriam" page entry for the person instead of a given page in the journal or forum. The "In Memoriam" page has everybody in one place and not everyone will have an article or forum page written about them. And, it makes it simpler to fix any other entries that we may miss initially, like the wiki or some website page. A related question does occur though - how far back into previous documentation sets should we go looking to make changes - 2 releases? 5 releases? The entire corpus? I can see this becoming resource intensive. We may need to develop a tool or script to identify all places that should be changed, actually make the change automagically, and update the script as needed.
(In reply to Graham Perrin from comment #2) Changed wiki entry to: Introduction * Name: Mike Karels * Location & Timezone: Minneapolis area, US Central time * https://docs.freebsd.org/en/articles/contributors/#contrib-develinmemoriam
