Description James B. Byrne 2025-04-09 14:33:21 UTC
Following a pkg upgrade to 1.18.2_2 the qtox messenger app no longer displays the emojis tablet for selection. Incoming emojis are displayed fine.

to reproduce: Start qtox under the mate desktop. Select an existing contact. Press the smiley-face icon.

Expected result. A point and click display of available emojis is shown.

Actual result: Nothing is displayed. No emojis can be sent.

Text message traffic works as expected.
File transfer works as expected.
Screen shots work as expected.

I can't confirm.
Emojis in 1.18.2_2 work fine for me.

Emoji button doesn't work for me too (KDE6).

The Settings/User Interface screen has the checkbox "Use emoticons".

Is it "off" for you by any chance?
Comment 4 Vladimir Druzenko freebsd_committer freebsd_triage 2025-04-10 01:07:35 UTC
IT was "On". Off or On - nothing changed.

I built this port myself on a live system.
This does not look like a regression between PORTREVISION 1 and 2.
This is probably due to some other changes that occurred around the same time.

James, does this button work for you with 1.18.2_1 right now?
Comment 5 Yuri Victorovich freebsd_committer freebsd_triage 2025-04-10 01:34:13 UTC
Based on the code the emoticon button does nothing when no emoticons exist.
But they should always exist because at least some emoticons are hardcoded.

This must be a bug in qTox itself.

I do not have 1.18.2_1 available. The last version that I have in cache is 1.17.6.
