Created attachment 260273 [details] Patch distinfo for version 4.3.1 claws-mail version 4.3.1 was released in February. Attached patch builds version 4.3.1 successfully, but I am a complete claws-mail noob (trying to get out of using thunderbird). The resulting build starts, but I use non-standard ports for email submission and IMAPS, so I can't do any actual email with it yet. Perhaps the GTK3 option, rather than the GTK2 option, should be the default since (for me) the version 3 build (using GTK2) did not even start the configuration wizard. At least the version 4 build start.
I agree GTK3 should be default now, keeping GTK2 available a bit more, maybe for one additional GTK3 release, as it is no longer developed upstream. I'll check your patch.
Thanks George! I'll test your patch over the next couple days. I'd like to keep the Gtk2 option for one more (this) release. Likely with a depreciation warning. Because Gtk3 && 4 are today's normal default. But it'd be nice for current Gtk2 users to have a little warning. So as to encourage them to try at least Gtk3 this time around. If your patch checks out. I'm going to need to wait for an outstanding pr(1) (bug #285900) to land. As I've tested it against 4.30, and I don't want to have to test it again. Thanks again! --Chris
Full GTK3 build with all plugins verified, no problems encountered.
Full GTK2 build verified as well (expected, no change here).
I'm all ready to close this bug, but I think it needs the attention of a committer. (I don't do this very often.)
