The project is dead. Latest release is from June, 2008 and latest commit happened 2011.
If you want to keep this port please at least reset MAINTAINER. This is my old e-mail address that I no longer use. Thanks.

It's possible change your email address in maintainer variable - or don't you want its maintainer?

About sunset: if the port builds, runs fine and has user base (eg. you) IMHO can be in ports tree.

It works for me - at least can run 'pal' command.
Ubuntu, Debian, Gentoo have pal package.

My suggestion is reset maintainer and keep the port in ports tree.
