Description ykla 2025-06-04 12:55:47 UTC
The QQ IM client previously existed in the Ports Collection as net-im/qq, but it was removed due to a long period of inactivity (see https://www.freshports.org/net-im/qq/).

As of 2024, QQ's mobile client has over 571 million monthly active users, and the software has seen renewed development driven by the growth of domestic Chinese operating systems.

Upstream now provides updated RPM packages for x86_64 and aarch64, and efforts have already begun to repackage and port them to FreeBSD using Linux compatibility layers.

It may be worthwhile to restore this port to the tree or consider sponsoring its reintroduction.

I have created a new Port for QQ. You can find it at: https://github.com/FreeBSD-Ask/QQ-Port/

This repository contains a new FreeBSD port for Tencent QQ, based on the official RPM packages provided for aarch64 and x86_64 architectures.

I have tested it on a virtual machine with the AArch64 architecture on my MacBook Pro, as well as on my own x86 computer.
The application needs to be run with the --no-sandbox parameter.
I have already included this parameter in the desktop launcher icon. You can use QQ by simply double-clicking its icon.
